Places: Meet Mia - Zagreb

Ich hatte euch noch mein Zagreb Highlight versprochen: Meet Mia! Schöne Zweideutigkeit, oder? Naja, vielleicht solltet ihr in diesem Fall lieber den englischen Text lesen. Da kommt's noch besser rüber. Aber an "Meet Mia" ist nicht nur der Name schön. Die Einrichtung steckt prallvoll mit Liebe zum Detail. Der Kaffee ist tip top. Die Preise übrigens auch. Die Auswahl ist super. Die Angestellten ungemein geduldig. Achso, und die Törtchen schmecken genial. Bleibt nur eine Frage: Warum ist dieser Laden soooo weit weg von uns? 

I promised you my highlight in Zagreb: Meet Mia! Love this double meaning. But it's not only the name I like about "Meet Mia". The interior design is full of love for detail. The coffee is perfect. The pricing, too. The choice of products is amazing. The staff absolutely patient. Oh, and the pastries taste like heaven. There's only one question left: Why is this place sooo far away from us?

Muss ich noch mehr sagen? Oder zeigen? Ihr seid überzeugt und plant bereits eure Reise nach Kroatien, oder? Perfekt. Dann kann ich dieses Kapitel jetzt abschließen. Übrigens: Nochmal eine Schippe geiler als Kroatien fand ich Slovien. Ernsthaft. Nächstes Mal gibt's deshalb noch ein paar Bilder aus meiner Stadt des Jahres: Ljubljana. 

Do I have to say more? Or show more? I bet you're convinced by my arguments and already planning your trip to Croatia, right? That means I can close this chapter. By the way: Slovenia was even a tiny bit cooler than Croatia. Seriously. Next time I have some pictures from my personal city of the year for you: Ljubljana.

Travel: Zagreb Part II

Noch einmal zurück ins sommerliche Zagreb, auch wenn daheim scheinbar plötzlich schon tiefster Winter herrscht. Ich hatte im letzten Post etwas von beeindruckender Architektur erzählt. Das erste Bild soll als Beweis dafür dienen. Für diese Aussicht mussten wir gefühlt auch nur eine Million Stufen hinter uns lassen. Hat sich aber gelohnt. Gegenüber von dieser Aussicht steht übrigens das "Wal-Haus", welches ihr auf dem letzten Bild sehen könnt, und das nicht minder beeindruckend daherkommt. Um der wichtigsten Frage vorwegzukommen: Den Donut gabs bei Mundaoka zu kaufen. Und nein, wir haben ihn leider nicht verspeist. 

Back to summery Zagreb, even though at home it seems like winter came way too soon. In the last post I was talking about Zagreb's great architecture and the first picture is the best proof. For this view we had to climb approximately a million stairs. But it was worth it. Opposite of those buildings is the "whale house" which you see on the last picture and which is not less impressive. To answer the most important question in advance: You can buy this donut at Mundaoka. And no, we didn't eat it.

Den Hund haben wir im Swanky Monkey Garden gefunden. Eine Location, die man allein wegen ihres Namens schon besuchen muss. Außerdem gibt es eine gute Auswahl an Craft Beer und auf so einen Unsinn stehen wir ja bekanntlich. Soviel zu Zagreb. Wobei, nicht ganz. Meinen liebsten Lieblingsort werde ich noch in einem separaten Post vorstellen. Selbstverständlich geht es da um Essen. Habt eine gute Woche!

We found the dog at Swanky Monkey Garden. A location worth visiting only for its name. Also, they have a great collection of craft beer and as you know we like this kind of nonsense. That's it for Zagreb. Well, not quite. My most favorite place deserves an own blogpost. Of course we're dealing with a food location. Have a great week! 

Travel: Zagreb Part I

Nachdem wir Zadar hinter uns gelassen hatten, ging es in die kroatische Hauptstadt Zagreb. Hier gibt es nicht nur die beste Patisserie weit und breit – ein ausführlicher Bericht folgt im kommenden Post-, sondern auch viele interessante Menschen und einige architektonische Sehenswürdigkeiten. Ansonsten gibt es eigentlich nicht viel zu sagen. Außer vielleicht, dass der appetitliche Kuchen von „Torte i to“ stammt.

We left Zadar and moved on to the Croatian capital Zagreb. In Zagreb you’ll find the best pastry shop in the area – it deserves its own blogpost -, many interesting people and some architectural highlights. Otherwise there’s not much to say. I should just mention that the tasty cake is from „Torte i to“.

Bei mir ist endlich wieder Ruhe eingekehrt, nachdem die letzten Wochen etwas turbulent waren. Die gute Nachricht: Wir haben Zeit uns um die verwahrloste Wohnung zu kümmern. Es hängt noch immer nicht ein einziges Bild an den Wänden. Und es existiert nur eine verlauste Zimmerpflanze. Außerdem freuen sich die Miezen sicher, wenn wir ihnen beim Wachsen zusehen – und wie sie wachsen... Die schlechte Nachricht: Es stehen keine Reisen an. Allerdings wäre noch ein Kurztrip in Planung. Falls ihr Vorschläge für Ziele habt, immer her damit.

My life finally calmed down after the last busy weeks. The good news: We’ll have some time to take care of our apartment. You still won’t find any pictures on our walls. And we have only one plant. Also the kitties will probably enjoy our company. They’re growning up so fast. The bad news: No travels lay ahead of us. But I’m planning a short trip.
